JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a strong start from the Jacksonville Dolphins, the Davidson lacrosse team fell 14-6 in non-conference action on the road Sunday afternoon.

The 'Cats dropped to 2-2 in the early season, while the Dolphins picked up their first win of the year and improved to 1-4.

Jacksonville jumped out to a 3-0 start over Davidson, before Shayna Brodman netted the Wildcats' first goal of the day with 1:07 remaining in the first quarter.

Davidson carried that momentum into the early goings of the second, when Keira Best scored her first career goal off a power play, cutting the deficit to one, 3-2, by the 14:37-mark.

From there however, the Dolphins took off on a 6-0 scoring run to pull ahead 8-2 at the intermission and secured the lead for good.

Jacksonville stretched its lead to as many as 10, taking a 13-3 advantage with 12:27 to go, before Brooke Ross found the back of the net off a feed from Brodman to halt the running clock.

Adrienne Leone and Jenna Skibbe also scored for the Wildcats, who put 15 shots on goal and won six draw controls. In all, the Dolphins won 16 draws and took 32 shots.
