Hely, Wildcats Shutdown Saint Joseph's 6-0

MERION STATION, Pa. — Blake Hely tossed his first complete-game shutout to lead Davidson to a 6-0 win at Saint Joseph's Friday afternoon.
It's the eighth straight win for the Wildcats, who improved to 39-9 and 17-3 in Atlantic 10 Conference play. Hely, a senior right-hander, stayed unbeaten on the year at 9-0.
Working efficiently, Hely scattered five hits and struck out six. He issued just one walk and had 1-2-3 innings in the first, sixth and eighth. He utilized double plays in the second, third and fourth to quiet the Hawks after runners reached base.
Hely had early run support, too. Trevor Candelaria hit a solo home run in the first, and his ninth blast of the year gave the Wildcats the lead for good. Jacob Hinderleider's 11th homer, a two-run shot to left in the fifth, bookended the scoring.
In between, Ryan Wilson and Michael Carico drove in runs with sacrifice flies, and John Hosmer doubled in a run in the fourth.
