DAVIDSON, N.C. – In what started as a pitcher's duel Saturday turned into an offensive explosion for the visiting Saint Joseph's Hawks, as the 'Cats fell 7-1 at Wilson Field in the second of a three-game series.

Senior Will Robertson and freshman Brett Centracchio each collected two hits apiece, while senior Brian Fortier doubled and sophomore Max Bazin collected the other 'Cats' hit.
Junior starting pitcher Josh Smutzer suffered his first loss of the season, despite allowing just one run and three hits.
SJU used a single, double, and sacrifice fly to get on the board in the second, and the tight 1-0 lead remained until the sixth, when a three-run homer gave the Hawks a 4-0 cushion. They added more insurance the following frame, plating two runs off a series of singles. They added one in the ninth to solidify the victory.
The Wildcats avoided the shutout, scoring in the bottom of the seventh. Senior catcher Jake Sidwell reached base via fielder's choice, took second on a groundout, and moved to third on a Centracchio single. Sidwell then came home courtesy of Bazin's ball he pushed back up the middle.
Davidson left runners on in five separate innings, including two on in each the fourth and seventh frames.
The rubber match to decide the series is slated for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch Sunday at Wilson Field.
