Foy Leads Davidson to 5-3 Win at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio – In addition to Clark Beeker's sixth complete game, senior Sam Foy led the Davidson baseball team to a 5-3 win at Dayton in the series opener Thursday afternoon at Woerner Field.
Foy finished the day 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored, while Beeker pitched all nine innings, allowing three runs off nine hits with three strikeouts for his eighth win of the season to lead the Wildcats.
Two runs in the first and fourth innings helped secure the victory for Davidson (24-22, 10-9 A-10) as both teams recorded nine hits and were flawless defensively. Jake Sidwell was the other 'Cat with a multi-hit performance, finishing 2-for-4, including a solo homerun in the sixth.
Nick Ryan joined Foy in the three-hit column, leading Dayton (16-33, 5-14 A-10) with a 3-for-4 performance.
Three Flyers made an appearance on the mound, including Charlie Dant (3-6), who allowed four runs – all earned – off seven hits with a game-high five strikeouts and five walks.
The two teams will return to the field tomorrow, May 13 for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
