Davidson Falls at Dayton in Doubleheader

DAYTON, Ohio – The Davidson baseball team fell to Dayton in a doubleheader that concluded the three-game series at Woerner Field Friday afternoon.
The losses dropped the Wildcats to 24-24 overall and 10-11 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton improved to 18-33 on the season and 7-14 in conference.
Senior Sam Foy led the way for Davidson as he recorded two multiple-hit performances, including home runs in both contests.
Game 1 – Dayton 7, Davidson 3

Despite Will Robertson and Sam Foy's multi-hit performances, the Davidson baseball team fell to Dayton, 7-3, in game one of the doubleheader Friday at Woerner Field.
After the Wildcats got on the board in the third, Dayton recorded six unanswered runs throughout the next four innings that secured the ball game. Davidson tried to rally with runs in the seventh and ninth but it wasn't enough.
The Flyers out hit the Wildcats, 11-9, while Davidson committed two errors. Robertson led Davidson with a 2-for-3 performance, while Foy followed with two hits, including a solo homerun, in four at bats.
On the mound, Durin O'Linger (6-4) allowed six runs, five earned, off nine hits with a strikeout in the first five innings for the loss. Three other Wildcats made an appearance, including freshmen Andrew Ashur and Austin Leonard who pitched scoreless innings.
Two Flyers pitched for Dayton, including Zach Beaver (3-6) who allowed one run off five hits with three strikeouts for the win.
Game 2 – Dayton 8, Davidson 3

Dayton clinched the conference series with six runs in the second inning before scoring two in the fourth to take an early 8-0 lead. Davidson tried to rally with scoring in the final two innings but it was not enough to overcome the Flyers.
Despite being out hit, 12-7, the Wildcats recorded four multi-base hits, including two solo home runs by Lee Miller and Foy. Foy finished the day 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored, while Miller went 2-for-4.
On the mound, A. Cline (3-4) limited Davidson to just two hits in the first 6.2 innings for the win. Four Wildcats made an appearance, including Casey Sutherland who allowed four runs – with one earned – off five hits in 1.2 innings for the loss.
Evan Roberts pitched 4.2 innings for the 'Cats and recorded a game-high five strikeouts.

Davidson will continue on the road for a mid-week contest at High Point on Tuesday, May 17. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
