Davidson Drops Another Hard-fought 1-0 Decision

RICHMOND, Va. – For the fourth straight game, Davidson found itself on the wrong end of a hard-fought 1-0 defeat as the Wildcats fell in their final regular season road contest Sunday afternoon at VCU in women's Atlantic 10 soccer at Sports Backers Stadium.
The 'Cats fell to 4-11-1 overall and 1-4 in league play, while the Rams ran their record to 7-4-4 and 3-1-1 in the A-10.
VCU scored the lone goal of the game early in the first half. Maren Johansen scored her eighth goal of the year off an assist from Natalie Robles in the 20th minute.
Davidson was held to six shots in the game, three each in both halves. It put two of the shots on goal with Sarah Tuggle and Laura Grace Himes each attempting to tie things up on shots in the 22nd and 29th minutes.
The Rams had a game-high 15 shots and eight corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Rachel Locke finished with a pair of saves, while the Rams' Emma Kruse earned the shutout with two saves as well.
The Wildcats return home for their final three home games, starting next Saturday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. against Saint Louis. The game will be Davidson's Kick Pink promotion.
