Alan Clothier enters his second season with the Davidson wrestling program after being added to the staff in August of 2024. 

Clothier joins the Wildcats after a two-year stint at Buffalo where he served as a volunteer assistant for the Bulls in 2022-23 before being promoted to full-time assistant. 

Before entering the coaching scene, Clothier highly decorated career as an 184-pounder at Appalachian State for three years before transferring to the University of Northern Colorado. He was a four-time NCAA qualifier and three-time placer in the Big XII Championships, an NWCA Scholar All-American and a First Team Academic All-Big XII selection. 

Over his five-year collegiate career, Clothier amassed a 97-51 overall record including a team-leading 26 wins in his debut season (2019-20) at Northern Colorado where he placed fourth at the Big XII Championships. In the same season, Clothier was 9-2 in duals, placed seventh at the Southern Scuffle and won both the Northern Colorado Open and Cowboy Open. 

At Appalachian State, Clothier went 47-25 during his redshirt-freshman and sophomore seasons. Additionally, Clothier was a two-time All-Southern Conference selection and back-to-back runner-up at the SoCon Championships while also helping the Mountaineers to conference titles in 2017 and 2018. 

Clothier is a native of Lawrence, Kan.
