2019: Played in 13 games • Scored the team’s first goal of the season at Georgetown (8/30).
2018: Appeared in 16 games, starting once • One of four Wildcats to score at least three goals • Scored two against Appalachian State (9/7) and one at La Salle (10/21).
2017: Appeared in all but one game for the ‘Cats and finished the year with the third-most points on the team (4)… scored first collegiate goal to give the ‘Cats a brief lead vs. Ohio (9/24)… added an assist at Lock Haven (9/29) and at No. 17 William & Mary (10/8)… finished year with six shots, three on-target.
Before Davidson:
Sydney was a two-year starter after transferring to Assumption High, taking the team to a 2016 state title and runner-up honors in 2015. The Rockets were nationally ranked in both 2015 and 2016, where McKenna gained all-region honors and was selected as the 2016 Wendy’s Heisman recipient. She is a three-time NFHCA Academic All-American Honor of Distinction, and actually served as captain during her freshman campaign at Dupont Manual High School, also in Louisville. In club action, Sydney played on the U19 IFHCK, where they finished fifth in the nation in both 2015 and 2016. She also boasts state championships as a swimmer, where she was named MVP while at Dupont Manual.
Personal: Daughter of Janey and Peter McKenna ... Born Sept. 23, 1999 ... Has two half sisters, Kelly and Megan ... Mother played tennis at Furman and on the pro tour ... Majoring in digital screen and media.
