'Cats Secure No. 6 Seed in Next Week's A-10 Tournament

WASHINGTON — For the second straight year and ninth time overall, the Davidson baseball team has secured a berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship, the league announced Saturday evening.
The Wildcats, who went 16-14 in league play, will be the No. 6 seed in the six-team event, which is set for May 20-23 at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.
In the opening round, they'll face No. 3 VCU at 3 p.m. next Wednesday. The teams just met, as the Rams completed a series sweep of the Wildcats Saturday in Richmond.
Davidson tied Rhode Island for fifth in the standings, but Rhode Island secured the No. 5 seed by virtue of winning the teams' head-to-head series 2-1 earlier this month.
A year ago, the Wildcats went 2-2 as the No. 4 seed in the tournament, which was then a seven-team event. In eight tournament appearances, Davidson is 18-15 with one championship (2017).
The Wildcats have reached the tournament four of the past five seasons, excluding 2024, and had five straight berths from 2015 to 2019.
