'Cats Fall in Finale, Settle for 2-1 Series Win

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Jamie Daly hit his team-leading eighth home run of the season, but the Davidson baseball team was unable to overcome an early deficit in a 7-2 loss at Saint Louis Sunday afternoon.
Now 20-17 overall and 11-7 in the A-10, the Wildcats settled for the 2-1 series victory after winning games on Friday and Saturday. It's Davidson's fourth consecutive A-10 series win, following 2-1 series against Dayton and George Mason and a sweep of St. Bonaventure. The loss ended the Wildcats' seven-game Atlantic 10 winning streak.
Daly's home run, a solo shot to right-center, came in the top of the seventh inning and was the Wildcats' first hit of the day. Davidson added a run in the ninth when Matt Manjooran tripled and scored on a Scotty Edwards single.
Saint Louis (16-24, 7-11) scored two runs in the first and three more in the fourth to gain control.
Reliever Will Marenghi kept the Wildcats within striking distance. In five innings, he allowed six hits and two earned runs and struck out one.
