DAVIDSON, N.C. - Sophie Majernik, Brooke Ross, and Kella McGrail were named team captains this fall, head coach Kim Wayne announced.
"I believe all three of our captains will work well together and will help our team believe that we can accomplish greatness once again," said Coach Wayne. "I'm excited to see this group lead our team this spring."
Sophie Majernik played a pivotal role during Davidson's incredible 2026 A10 Championship season. The senior started 19 games, collected 11 draw controls, grabbed 11 ground balls, and had six caused turnovers.
"Sophie has battled a few injuries since her freshmen year, including missing the entire fall season, but has always come back stronger," explained Coach Wayne. "Her dedication to this team has showed in every recovery session, drill, practice, and game. Sophie's team first mentality is what makes her so powerful and respected amongst her teammates and our staff."
Brooke Ross was the 2026 A10 Tournament MVP, scoring 10 goals in three games as a part Davidson's attack unit. Across her first three seasons with the 'Cats, Ross has played in 51 games, scored 65 goals, and recorded 24 assists.
"Brooke stepped up at the end of last year and has been the voice on our attack ever since," said Coach Wayne. "She loves the game and puts in more work than anyone else through watching film, extra workouts, and perfecting her stick and shot. She understands what our team needs and will push them to get there."
Kella McGrail has played in 54 total games during her first three seasons with the program. McGrail has recorded 58 ground balls, 33 caused turnovers, 27 draw controls, scored 10 goals, and dished out eight assists during her college career.
"Kella is one of the hardest workers on the team and the most versatile," explained Coach Wayne. "From day one, Kella has been that player you can put in any position or anywhere on the field and she will do whatever you ask of her while also putting in 100% effort. I am proud of Kella for stepping outside of her quiet shell this fall and becoming someone people listen to, respect, and are comfortable going to for help."
