Wildcats Fall to Bonnies in Second Game

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — St. Bonaventure built a three-run lead early and held off Davidson the rest of the way in a 6-2 defeat of the Wildcats Saturday afternoon.
The loss snapped an 11-game winning streak in the series for Davidson, which fell to 18-23 overall and 12-8 in the Atlantic 10.
The Wildcats managed just two hits — singles from Eli Putnam and Chris Schuchart in the first and fourth innings, respectively — as pitchers Alex Barger and David Jones combined to strike out 14 for Bona (13-26, 4-16).
Davidson got on the board in the fourth when Anthony Torreso walked and then scored on a JD Woodall fielder's choice. Putnam scored in the eighth on a Michael O'Shaughnessy groundout.
O'Shaughnessy's hitting streak came to end at 23 games, one shy of the school record.
Starting pitcher Isaac Fix threw 5.2 innings, allowed six hits and four earned runs and struck out seven.
