Wildcats Fall to San Diego on the Road

The setback drops the 'Cats to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in league action, while the Toreros improve to 5-3 and 3-2.
Trailing 10-7 early in the second quarter, Davidson appeared to be putting together its second straight scoring drive before San Diego forced a fumble that was picked up by Jerry Riggins and returned 73 yards for a touchdown.
The 'Cats would never recover from the scoop and score as the Toreros put together a 30-point second quarter to take a 37-13 lead at the half.
Davidson's only scores came on nine and 32-yard runs from Sam Valor and Luke Durkin, respectively.
Despite the loss, junior Mari Adams became just the fourth Wildcat in program history to go over 1,000 rushing yards in multiple seasons.
The Wildcats, who entered as the nation's top rushing team, finished the day with 228 yards on the ground, led by Valor's 77.
Ja'seem Reed, the PFL's top wide receiver led the Toreros with 14 catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Davidson will conclude the home portion of its 2024 schedule next weekend when Morehead State visits for a 1 p.m. "Senior Day" kick off.
