- The sixth edition of the Carolina Border Clash | Battle for the 1919 Cup (series history below) between Davidson and Presbyterian will kick off Saturday at noon.
- Winners of five straight in the series, the Wildcats enter 2-4 on the 2026 campaign and 0-2 in league play following a setback at San Diego last weekend.
- The two teams haven't met in Clinton since the 2022 season. The 2024 contest (Sunday, Sept. 29) was moved to Davidson due to Hurricane Helene.
- A year ago, Davidson knocked off No. 23/25 Presbyterian, 14-13.
- Despite last season's low-scoring affair, the two teams have combined to average 74 points in the previous five meetings.
- Senior wide receiver Jacary Lightsey continues to lead the PFL in catches (42), receiving yards (519), receptions (per game (7.0) and receiving yards per game (86.5).
- Quarterback Casey Bullock is tops in the conference in total yards (1803), while sitting second in touchdown passes (10), passing yards (2nd / 1511) and passing yards per game (2nd / 251.8).
- As a team, Davidson ranks among the nation's best in passing offense (24th / 259.0) and time of possession (14th / 32:50).
- Davidson and Presbyterian first met on Nov. 22, 1919. The game ended in a scoreless tie.
- Saturday's meeting will be the 37th all-time, with the Wildcats leading the series, 20-14-2.
- Since Presbyterian joined the PFL in 2020, Davidson is 6-1 against the league foes.
- In 2021, the two teams formed the Carolina Border Clash / Battle for the 1919 Cup.
- The two team haven't met in Clinton since the 2022 season. The 2024 contest was moved to Davidson due to Hurricane Helene.
- Playing a nationally-ranked opponent on their home field for the first time in 84 years, Davidson upset No. 23/25 Presbyterian, 14-13, to retain the 1919 Cup, Nov. 11, 2025 inside Davidson College Stadium.
- Senior safety Dominic Njoku secured the Wildcats' first win over a ranked opponent since 2021 (at No. 25 San Diego) picking off the Blue Hose's Ty Englehart with 2:15 left to play.
- Davidson scored on consecutive possessions to lead 14-0 after one. Hayden Bender's interception set up Langston Green's second career touchdown catch before Coulter Cleland connected with Mason Sheron on a three-yard pass with 20 seconds left in the opening quarter.
- Sheron added 91 rushing yards on 20 carries.
- Presbyterian, which climbed to as high as 16th in polls earlier this season with wins over No. 11 Mercer and Furman, had won 12 of its last 13 dating back to 2024.
- The Wildcats held the Blue Hose to just 69 yards in the air, while forcing a pair of turnovers.
- Senior Mikah Kent led Davidson on the defensive side of the ball with nine tackles, a sack and two tackles for a loss.
