Davidson Wraps Up A-10 Championships With Notable Performances

AMHERST, Mass. – The Davidson women's track team crowned five medalists and pulled off a come-from-behind victory in the 4x400 relay on the final day of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships in Amherst, Massachusetts on Sunday.

Aleia Gisolfi-McCready gave all she had on the final leg of the 4x400 relay on Sunday as she propelled herself across the finish line when the race came down to the wire with Rhode Island. Her effort in the final 100 meters gave the 'Cats the gold medal with a new school-record time of 3:42.60. Rachel Horowitz, Sophia Hood, and Kierra Marshall all combined to give Davidson their first A-10 title in the 4x400 on the women's side.
Liz Simms, Kelsey Troutman, Maliyah Paynter, and Breila Fuller earned silver in the 4x800 with a time of 8:55.08, and the 'Cats also medaled in the 4x100. Horowitz, Cassandra Blau, Marshall, and Kate Carnevale finished in a school-record time of 46.23 to take bronze.

Rachel Horowitz came away with silver and a new Davidson record in the 400-meters. Horowitz crossed the line in 54.05 to break Bianca Nolde-Lopez's record of 54.60. Sophia Hood came in fourth with another PR of 55.49.
Aleia Gisolfi-McCready took second place in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best mark of 1:00.52. She now has two silvers in the 400H in as many years.

Kate Carnevale and Hannah Kanjian elevated their performace to new heights on the final day. Kanjian ran a 14.17 in the 100-meter hurdles to take fifth place while Carnevale crossed the line in 11.93 seconds to take sixth in the 100-meter dash. Both athletes set then records during yesterday's prelims.
