Wildcats Open With Win over Washington & Lee

DAVIDSON — Guard Angelo Brizzi scored 15 points in his Davidson debut to lead five double-figure scorers as the Wildcats topped Washington & Lee 86-63 in the season opener Monday night in Belk Arena.
A 7-0 second-half run proved decisive for the Wildcats, as they broke a 44-44 tie and pulled ahead for good following a Grant Huffman three-point play and two David Skogman layups. The Wildcats shot 52 percent after the intermission, while holding the Generals, who led 38-37 at the break, to 29 percent in the second half.
Skogman chipped in with 13 points, all in the second half, and eight boards, while freshman Bobby Durkin hit three 3-pointers in the first half, including two on consecutive possessions, en route to 13 points off the bench.
Huffman finished with 12 points, four assists and seven rebounds, and Reed Bailey was one board from a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Jack d'Entremont and Robert DiSibio scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, to lead the Generals, who had an 18-3 run to lead by five in the first half.
