Whitworth Takes Charge for WXC at Spider Open

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. - Junior Frances Whitworth took charge and led the Davidson women's cross country team at the Spider Open hosted by the University of Richmond in Mechanicsville, Va. at Pole Green Park. Whitworth completed the 4k in 13:54.4, crossing the finish line in 15th place.
"Strong start even with a couple of top runners on the sidelines," Director of Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Jen Straub said. "Frances had a breakthrough race running her fastest time in college. Freshman Mary Shoop ran really well and I am excited to see what unfolds for her this fall. The group ran solid and now we know exactly what we need to do going forward."
Freshman Mary Shoop finished the course in 14:19.7 in 27th place with Anna Catherine Wilson, Anne Berquist and Kelsey Troutman rounding out the 'Cats who finished in the Top-55 runners.
