Whitworth and Abernathy Lead ‘Cats at A-10 Championships

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Both Frances Whitworth and Natalie Abernathy recorded Top-25 finishes to lead the Davidson women's cross-country team at the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championships.
For the fifth time this fall, Whitworth paced the Wildcats, running the 5k Pole Green Park course in 17:55.1, just missing her personal best (17:54.8), to finish 18th out of 137 competitors.
Abernathy came home 24th, just seven seconds back of her teammate, running a career mark of 18:02.8, eclipsing her previous low by almost 12 seconds.
As a team, Davidson recorded 239 points to finish the 15-team race in eighth place with an average time of 18:32, shattering last year's mark.
Abigail Nasse (18:48.4 / 61st), Kelsey Troutman (18:51.2/63rd) and Anne Berquist (19:03.5/73rd) also contributed to the team's final total.
League newcomer, Loyola Chicago (54 points), placed three runners inside the Top-10 to claim the team title by 20 points over La Salle.
The Explorers' duo of Elizabeth and Eleanor Mancini finished 1-2 in the individual standings with times of 16:38.6 and 16:40.2, respectively.
