Wildcats Fall in Non-Conference Finale at Duke

DURHAM — Davidson's final non-conference game of the regular season resulted in its first loss in more than two weeks Tuesday night at Duke's Jack Coombs Field.
The Wildcats, now 40-10, dropped an 11-2 contest to end their nine-game winning streak.
Jacob Hinderleider hit a ground-rule RBI-double to right field to score Trevor Candelaria in the first inning and set a Davidson record. It's the 127th double of the year for the Wildcats, which breaks the program's single-season mark of 126, set in 2005.
By reaching base, Candelaria also extended his reached-base streak to 43 games.
In the sixth, Parker Nolan singled and then scored on a passed ball. Henry Koehler's fourth-inning single was the Wildcats' only other hit.
Isaac Fix was the first of eight Wildcat pitchers to toe the rubber Tuesday. He threw two innings, allowing one hit and one earned run, in a no-decision.

The Wildcats will host George Mason in a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series beginning Thursday at 4 p.m. Davidson will honor its nine-member class of 2022 prior to Saturday's 2 p.m. contest.
