DAVIDSON, N.C. — After opening Atlantic 10 play with a strong win against Saint Joseph's last Sunday to keep its unbeaten streak intact, Davidson will continue on with its league games this week by hosting Duquesne Thursday night and St. Bonaventure on Sunday inside Alumni Stadium in women's soccer.
The Matchup ...
Davidson (6-3-1, 1-0 A-10), riding a five-game unbeaten streak, will play Duquesne (3-2-2, 1-0 A-10) Thursday at 7 p.m. before closing out the week with a 2 p.m. Sunday matchup against St. Bonaventure (4-5, 0-1 A-10).
Coach Denton's Thoughts on the Upcoming Game ...
"We are looking forward to another two home games this week on campus. Thursday night we host Duquesne, which will be on a high after defeating VCU in their opening A-10 matchup. Duquesne is always a tough game, whether we play them at home or away. They are a physical team with lots of attacking options and threats in the final third. We will have to be ready to compete and focused for the entire game."
"Then on Sunday we host the Bonnies, another physical team in the conference. We have not played St. Bonaventure in the last two seasons due to the pod alignment within the A-10, but they are very tough to play against. We are at home and we have to look to use that to our advantage the best we can, not only Sunday, but on Thursday too. The players are excited about the challenges ahead this week and looking forward to the games."
A-10 Players of the Week ...
After leading Davidson to a pair of shutouts last week, the duo of sophomore goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch and forward Hailey Braemer were named the Atlantic 10 Defender and Rookie of the Week, respectively, Sept. 23. The two weekly honors give Davidson four on the season, as Bunch and Braemer join Sabine Chandler and Sarah L'Hommedieu as weekly award winners this year.
