THE SERIES
Davidson trails Marist 1-10 all-time since the first meeting in 2008. The two have faced each other every year since the series inception. The Wildcats lone victory in the series came in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. in 2010, a 28-21 affair. The Red Foxes climbed back from a 34-17 deficit last season to down Davidson in double overtime, 48-41.
LAST TIME OUT
Davidson posted a dominant performance on the road at Jacksonville last Saturday, downing the Dolphins in PFL play, 49-19. Junior running back Wesley Dugger rushed for a Davidson single-game record five touchdowns, totaling 193 yards on 22 carries - 8.8 yds per carry. The 'Cats rushed for a season-high 521 yards on 73 rushes. In total, 11 Wildcats rushed for double digit yardage including senior Jorell Story with 82 yards. Junior slot receiver Pat Tabor filled in place kicking responsibilities and converted 7 of 7 extra point attempts, including the one after his three yard scoring scamper. Junior quarterback Louis Colosimo also found the end zone in the second half for the 'Cats. Senior linebacker Tony Collins led a balanced defensive attack, leading the team in tackles (6) and intercepting his first pass since 2016 at Kentucky Wesleyan.
SCOUTING THE RED FOXES
Marist comes to town 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the PFL on the heels of a difficult schedule that lastly featured nationally ranked Dartmouth College. Red Fox quarterback Austin Day averages 159.4 passing yards per game, throwing three touchdowns to favorite target, Anthony Olivencia. Grant Dixon and Kyle Fleitman pace the Marist defensive corps with 38 tackles apiece. Dixon has filled the stat sheet at linebacker, registering 4.0 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.
