Field Hockey to Celebrate Stick it to Cancer, Senior Day

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In their final home stand of the season, the Davidson field hockey team will welcome NorPac foes Radford and Liberty to Belk Turf Field as they host a series of events to close out the season.  The 'Cats will faceoff with the Radford Highlanders on Friday at 6 p.m. before closing out the regular season against Liberty in a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
 
STICK IT TO CANCER
The Wildcats will celebrate Stick it to Cancer during Friday's match vs. Radford as part of 2012 Breast Cancer Awareness Week. The team will be selling t-shirts at the Union through Oct. 25 as well as at Friday's game. Proceeds will go to Connor House's Bosom Buddies, Friends for an Early Breast Cancer Test.
 
SENIOR DAY
The squad will honor its five graduating seniors at Sunday's game. The careers of Finley Amato, Brit Donaldson, Annie Evans, Sarah Fisher and Madison Parrish will be celebrated prior to the tilt with Liberty.
 
vs. RADFORD
On Friday the 'Cats will host the Highlanders in the second match up of the year between the two teams. The Wildcats trail the Highlanders 13-26-2 in the overall series entering the 42nd match up in series history. Davidson won the previous tilt between the two, downing Radford 3-2 in overtime. In that game, Finley Amato became the program's all-time leading goal scorer by notching the game-winner in the extra period.
 
vs. LIBERTY
Davidson suffered its first-ever loss to Liberty last Sunday by a score of 4-0. The two teams enter Sunday's game tied 1-1 in the series, as the Flames have officially joined the NorPac this season. The last time the Flames made the trip to Davidson, the 'Cats came away with the 3-0 victory.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
Both as a team and as individuals, the Wildcats make several appearances in the top 50 of NCAA Division I in several statistical categories. Most notable is Sarah Fisher, who ranks 10th in the nation with 7.53 saves per game and leads the Wildcats to a ranking of 21st overall in saves per game (7.71). Fisher also sits 48th in goals against average (2.38). Finley Amato ranks 40th in goals per game with (0.65) and 48th in points per game (1.53), while Brooke Osborne's three defensive saves this season puts her 20th in the NCAA. As a squad the 'Cats rank 25th in save percentage (0.757), 32nd in shutouts per game (0.18) and 50th in winning percentage (.421).
