DAVIDSON, N.C. - After an 18-day, five-game road trip to kick off the month of October, the Davidson field hockey team returns home to take on Bryant University this Saturday at Belk Turf Field, for their first home contest since Sept. 28. The non-conference matchup between the Wildcats and Bulldogs is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Scouting the Wildcats:
Davidson comes into Saturday's game with a record of 3-12 on the season, and is looking for their first NorPac conference win, sitting at 0-5. Senior Tyler Kirkland leads the Wildcat offense, scoring a team-high for goals this year, and also adding a pair of assists for 10 points overall, also the top mark on the squad. Kirkland has been the model of efficency in her scoring strikes, needing only five shots to collect her four goals. Right behind her is midfielder Kathelijn van der Ven, who leads the 'Cats with four assists in her freshman campaign, and picked up Davison's lone NorPac weekly award of the year when she was named conference Rookie of the Week in September. Six different players have recorded multiple goals on the season, with six more contributing one score.  All three Davidson goalkeepers have made appearances between the pipes so far, with junior Christa Goeke leading with way, having made ten starts and logging 720 minutes in goal. She has made a career-high 56 stops in her eleven games, and now has 114 saves in her Wildcat career.

Scouting the Bulldogs: In their first year as a Division I program, Bryant University holds a 1-11 record so far this season. They are playing as an independent until the 2012-13 academic year, when they will join the Northeast Conference. Leading the way on the offensive side for the Bulldogs is Elise Boissoneau, whose four goals and eight points lead all players. Alexandra Czerniak, who has struck on two occasions, is the only other player with a multi-goal season. Bryant has scored 11 goals as a team in their 12 games, with nine shut outs against them, while allowing their opponents to find the back of the net 60 times, while also being out-shout by a 171-29 margin.

The Series:
This is the first meeting between these two schools, with Davidson holding a 5-2 lead against programs in the NEC, the future conference for Bryant.

Up Next:
Saturday's contest is the first of three-consecutive home games for the 'Cats as they near the end of the regular season. Next Wednesday, they return to NorPac play when they pay host to rival Appalachian State at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will look to avenge a heartbreaking 3-2 penalty-strokes loss to the Mountaineers in Boone earlier this year.
