Capacity: 5,295 (with bleacher seating) 1,323 (lower bowl)
Opened: 1989
Address: 200 Baker Drive, Davidson, NC 28036
The centerpiece of the Baker Sports Complex is the John M. Belk Arena, home to men and women's basketball, volleyball and wrestling.
For athletic events, the Belk Arena seats nearly 5,300. When the bleacher seating is retracted, two additional hardwood basketball courts and two hardwood volleyball courts are available.
Belk Arena is named in honor of John M. Belk ’43, a former captain of the Wildcats’ teams, a Davidson College trustee for more than 15 years and former mayor of Charlotte.
Belk Arena holds the strong tradition of Davidson basketball. Ten NCAA Tournament banners, numerous Southern Conference championship pennants, four NIT flags and retired jerseys with names like Hetzel, Snyder, Gerdy, Cobb and Rucker hang from the rafters that reflect the Wildcats’ proud basketball history.
In 2014, the basketball court inside Belk Arena was named McKillop Court, in honor of current Wildcats' head coach Bob McKillop. McKillop Court will serve as permanent recognition of this milestone and of the countless successes the Davidson men's basketball program have accomplished under McKillop's leadership.
