Wildcats Topple Campbell in Season Opener

Buies Creek, N.C. –The Davidson College men's soccer team opened the 2025 season with a 2-0 road victory over Campbell Thursday night.
The 'Cats start their campaign 1-0 and are now 5-1 all-time on the road in Buies Creek.
Veteran defender Alonzo Clarke netted the first goal of the season late in the first half (39:14) with a header set up by a free-kick assist from Baylen Young. The goal marked the seventh of the captain's four-year career.
Young tallied his second assist of the game in the 57th minute, setting up Jack Brown to cross the ball into the Camels' box for the awaiting Noah Louzan, who headed the ball past the goalkeeper.
Freshmen Nicholas Alvaro Zeballos and Young each recorded a shot on target for the Wildcats, who totaled 11 shots on the night.
Lucas Beltran earned the clean sheet for Davidson, racking up four saves, including a penalty kick stop in the 66th minute that stifled Campbell's best scoring opportunity.
Clarke and AJ Wild played the full 90 minutes for the Wildcats.
Overall, Davidson outpaced the Camels offensively, leading in shots (11-9) and corners (4-2).
