Bookended by two Atlantic 10 Conference road series, the Davidson baseball team will host non-league foe Winthrop Tuesday night at Wilson Field.
First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats are 16-22 overall and 11-7 in the A-10 following a 1-2 weekend at Saint Joseph's.
• Davidson is currently tied with Saint Louis for fourth in the A-10 standings, with four of 10 league weekends remaining, including at St. Bonaventure (April 25-27).
• The Wildcats set a single-game program record for home runs (9) in Saturday's 25-15 loss to the Hawks.
• Outfielder Cider Canon led the way and matched two school records with four home runs and 18 total bases. Both equaled the single-game marks of Gus Quattlebaum, who hit four homers and singled twice in a 1997 game at VCU. Canon added a double to finish 5-for-5 with eight RBIs.
• Canon is one of three players in the nation who have hit four homers in a game this year, joining Damian Garcia of Texas Southern (vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff) and Dale Francis, Jr. of Gardner-Webb (vs. Appalachian State).
• Canon, who is hitting .368, now leads Davidson with 13 homers, which ranks second in the A-10. He's atop the league with a .792 slugging percentage and is second in OPS (1.244).
• Davidson ranks first in the league with 66 round-trippers, with infielders Eli Putnam (12, 4th) and Michael O'Shaughnessy (11, 5th) also among the leaders.
• Saturday's nine-homer game broke the eight-homer mark the Wildcats set at Dayton last month and ranks third in the nation this year. High Point hit 11 against Radford, and BYU hit 10 against CSUN.
• O'Shaughnessy enters Tuesday on a 21-game hitting streak, three off the Davidson record set by Jazz Freitas in 1994.
• O'Shaughnessy leads the Wildcats with a .373 average, 56 hits, 13 doubles, 51 RBIs and a .468 on-base percentage. He's the A-10 leader in hit-by-pitches (17).
