'Cats Lose Pair to Rhode Island, UMass

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's tennis team fell short over a two-match road stint with a 4-1 loss at Rhode Island and 4-0 loss at UMass Saturday and Sunday.Â
The results moved the Wildcats' record to 10-6 while the conference losses put their Atlantic 10 mark to 0-4.Â
"We can take away some good lessons from this weekend.," said head coach Susanne Depka. "We will get to work on the practice court and prepare for the next conference matches on the road. I believe if we go the extra mile in the next couple weeks we will be ready for the end of April."Â
Against the Rams, Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford were able to earn a 6-4 win despite Rhode Island taking victories on courts one and three to secure the team point. Freshman Ellie Hammond was the lone Wildcat to get a singles win on the day, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 position.Â
Sunday versus the Minutewomen Kollock and Langford each battled back to win their second sets after falling in the first, but ultimately came up short of comeback wins.Â

Davidson continues on its conference road trip when it travels to George Washington April 11 followed by a voyage 11 a.m. April 13.Â
