'Cats Look to Take Momentum to Dayton

DAVIDSON - Winners of its last three games, the Davidson women's basketball team will look to extend its streak when it enters UD Arena to face Dayton in an 11 a.m. School Day Game Feb. 12.

SERIES HISTORY...
The Flyers hold a commanding 12-1 lead in the all-time series against the Wildcats dating back to the 2014-15 season. Despite the lead, Davidson has been the victor of the most recent meeting between the two teams.

Suzi-Rose Deegan scored a game-high 22 points and Davidson shot a blistering 56.9 percent with a convincing 81-53 victory over Dayton Jan. 5, 2023. Deegan, a redshirt-senior from Perth, Australia, finished 10-of-12 from the floor in 32 minutes for the 'Cats.

Issy Morgan added 15 points for Davidson, while Charlise Dunn and Millie Prior scored 12 points each. Prior also pulled down six rebounds to go along with three of her team's seven blocks on the night.

LAST TIME OUT...
In addition to holding UMass to just 26 percent, Davidson got 15 points each from Charlise Dunn and Katie Donovan as the Wildcats cruised to a 56-38 Atlantic 10 women's basketball victory Feb. 8 inside the Mullins Center.

Dunn shot an efficient 4-of-9 from the field with three made triples in the first half while Donovan was all over the boards with six rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

The 'Cats shot 52 percent in the opening 20 minutes including 6-of-12 from long range. Davidson would go on to finish the game with 10 3-pointers. Marking the Wildcats' seventh game this season with 10+ made 3-pointers.

AN ALL AROUND EFFORT...
Over 24 games, the Wildcats have found immense production from its bench when called upon to enter the game. So far this season, the Davidson bench has outscored its competitors bench by +119 (491-372), attesting to the Share, Shoot, Stifle mantra of the program.

The 'Cats have distributed the ball well heading into the final weeks of the regular season. All told, Davidson has dished double-digit assists in 15 contests including a season-best of 20 in two separate games (at Saint Louis Jan. 5 / at UMass Feb. 8).

Though not a traditional player to distribute the ball, forward Millie Prior leads the Wildcats in assists with 2.5 per game having handed out a career-high eight against the Minutewomen last weekend.

DOMINANT DEFENSE FROM THE ARC...
Ranking fifth in the nation and first in the Atlantic 10 in opponent 3-point percentage at just .250, the Wildcats have continued to defend the arc well entering the final contests of the regular season. So far this season, Davidson has surrendered just 80 total made 3-pointers, allowing its opponents to hit more than six triples only one time this season.

The 'Cats have held its competitors to no made 3-pointers on three occasions this season (0-6 Presbyterian, 0-3 Charlotte, 0-8 George Mason).

A QUICK START...
Getting out to a fast start has proven to bode well for the Wildcats. In its games this season, the 'Cats are currently 11-1 when they are leading at the halftime break.

Additionally, Davidson has held its competitors to under 10 total points in either the first or second quarter on seven different occasions this season.

The Flyers are looking the snap a two-game losing streak after current losses to George Mason (86-53, Feb. 1) and Rhode Island (57-36, Feb. 8). 

On the season, Dayton is averaging 65.2 points per game while surrendering 64.0 to its competition. Additionally, the Flyers are connecting on .419 percent of their shots from the field, .319 percent beyond the arc and .696 at the foul line. On the boards, Dayton holds a narrow +2.6 margin in rebounding, averaging 37.2 and giving up 34.6 per game. 

Leading the offense is Ivy Wolf who enters the weekend with per game averages of 16.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals. Wolf also shoots efficiently at .439 from the field, .431 from 3-point range and .818 at the charity stripe. 

Following is Arianna Smith who nearly averages a double-double with 12.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest. Smith is also a diligent shooter at an A-10 best .635 field goal percentage.
