Billikens Hold Off Late Wildcat Rally

DAVIDSON — Despite a fourth-quarter rally, a double-digit deficit proved too much for the Davidson women's basketball team to overcome Sunday in a 60-51 home loss to Saint Louis.
With the setback, the Wildcats fell to 10-10 overall and 5-3 in the Atlantic 10, while the Billikens (8-13) improved to 2-6 in the league. The teams split the season series, with the Wildcats winning the Jan. 5 meeting 94-53 on the road.
In Sunday's rematch, the Billikens shot 50 percent (21-of-42) through the first 30 minutes and built a lead that peaked at 46-26 late in the third quarter. But Davidson, which had shot 25 percent (9-of-36) to that point, didn't go quietly.
Led by 12 points from Katie Donovan, the Wildcats went on a 24-7 run to cut the Billikens' lead to 53-50 when Mallorie Haines hit a 3-pointer with 4:19 to play. It was as close as the Wildcats would get, however, as the Billikens regained control and held Davidson to a Charlise Dunn free throw the rest of the way.
Donovan led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Haines finished with nine, and Dunn had 10 rebounds to go with seven points.
Mya Glanton hit all nine of her shots and had a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards to lead three double-digit Billiken scorers.
