Dunn’s Career Night Not Enough as George Mason Rallies Past Wildcats

FAIRFAX, Va. – Despite a career-high 32 points from Charlise Dunn, Davidson fell on the road to George Mason, 81-73, in Atlantic 10 women's basketball action Wednesday evening inside EagleBank Arena.
A junior from Victoria, Australia, Dunn scored 20 of her 28 second-half points in the third quarter, while finishing 11-of-23 from the floor, including six of the Wildcats' 10 3-pointers.
Kyra Bruyndoncx also scored in double figures for Davidson (10-9, 5-2 A-10) with 13 points in 34 minutes.
The Wildcats torched the nets for 78.6 percent in the third quarter, highlighted by Dunn's 8-of-10 effort and four triples, to carry a 63-55 advantage into the fourth.
Clinging to a 48-47 lead, Davidson extended the margin to as many as 12, behind a 15-4 spurt sparked by three straight treys from Dunn.
The Patriots, who went 0-of-8 from long range on the night, started the final quarter on an 18-5 run to retake the lead for good.
Though both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor, it was George Mason's 33 points off 20 Wildcat miscues that made the difference.
Davidson, which fell behind 11-5 early, closed the opening frame on a 15-2 run capped by a Jasmine Timmerson steal and layup at the buzzer to lead 20-13.
Much like the first, George Mason (16-3, 6-2 A-10) started the second quarter fast to cut into the deficit and eventually went back in front, with the final eight points of the half, to lead 34-32 at the break.
Kennedy Harris was one of two Patriots to crack the 20-point plateau with 29 points.
