DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's basketball team continues the second half of its schedule when it travels to Fairfax, Virginia for a league contest against George Mason 7 p.m. Wednesday.

SERIES HISTORY...
The Wildcats hold a close 7-6 lead over the Patriots in the all-time series. The 'Cats snapped a three-game losing streak to George Mason a season ago. Along with torching the nets for 56 percent and drilling 10 3-pointers, Elle Sutphin scored a game-high 24 points as the Wildcats knocked off George Mason, 75-67 Jan. 14, 2024. 

The Wildcats who got 15 points, including four treys, from Mallorie Haines, were just as impressive at the defensive end holding George Mason to just 37.5 percent. Maddie Plank also stuffed the stat sheet for Davidson contributing six points, seven rebounds and six assists.

LAST TIME OUT...
Charlise Dunn (17), Mallorie Haines (15) and Tomisin Adenupe (10) combined for 42 to help propel Davidson to a wire-to-wire 83-45 victory over St. Bonaventure Jan. 18. 

Haines led the charge from distance going 5-of-9 as well as Adenupe a perfect 2-of-2 effort beyond the arc. Additionally, the 'Cats connected on a season-best 34 field goals overall as all 13 players that touched the court scored at least one basket. 

Millie Prior stuffed the stats sheet with a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with four assists, two steals and a block in just 17 minutes of action. Dunn tallied six rebounds and three steals while Candice Lienafa contributed defensively as well with five rebounds and a pair of blocks. 

DANGEROUS FROM DISTANCE...
For the second time this season, the Wildcats tied a program-best 14 made 3-pointers in a single game, going 14-30 against the Bonnies over the weekend. This season alone, the 'Cats have drained 10+ treys in five games while shooting about .400 from beyond the arc in seven contests with a season high .583 (14-24) against Saint Louis early this month. 

For their efforts, Davidson currently ranks 30th among all Division I institutions in 3-point percentage at .357 (138-387). In six conference games alone, the 'Cats are connecting on .390 percent from 3-point range with Haines shooting an efficient .538 in league action.

Overall Haines, (28), Bruyndoncx (24) and Dunn (22) have all hit the 20 made 3-pointers plateau. Haines leads the charge with a.467 average followed by Bruyndoncx (.364) and then Dunn (.338).

The Wildcats enter their mid-week match up as one of only two one loss team left in the Atlantic 10 alongside Richmond (15-5, 6-1). Additionally, the 'Cats rank in the top portion of conference contenders in numerous categories:

The Wildcats have defeated six of their last eight opponents by a double-digit margin, including a season second best of 41-point win over Saint Louis. All told, the 'Cats have enjoyed eight total double-figure victories this season with a season-best +42 win versus Presbyterian. During its conference stint, Davidson enters the weekend holding a +90 scoring margin against its A-10 opponents. 

HANDS UP...
Ranking 17th in the nation and second in the Atlantic 10 in opponent 3-point percentage at just .252, the Wildcats have continued to defend the arc well through 18 contests. So far this season, Davidson has surrendered just 62 total made 3-pointers, allowing its opponents to hit more than five triples only one time this season. The 'Cats have held its competitors to no made 3-pointers on two occasions this season (0-6 Presbyterian, 0-3 Charlotte).

Winners of its last three games, George Mason overcame a slow start to claim a 57-40 victory on the road at La Salle Jan. 18. 

The enter Wednesdays game averaging 73.6 points and 39.4 rebounds per contest while surrendering only 56.0 points and 34.7 rebounds per game to its opponents. The Patriots are shooting .420 from the floor, .365 from 3-point range and .706 from the foul line as well. GMU has taken good care of the ball committing 11.4 turnovers per game while using 9.6 steals a game to force its competitors into 19.7 miscues. 

Kennedy Harris leads the Patriots with 15.0 ppg and shooting percentages of .408 from the field, .372 from 3-point range and .750 at the charity stripe. 2023-24 Rookie of the Year Zahirah Walton follows with 13.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg and a .414 field goal percentage. Rounding out the George Mason leaders is Paula Suarez scoring 10.1 ppg and dishing a team-best 4.4 apg.
