FARMVILLE, Va. — A penalty stroke in the final seconds lifted Longwood to a 2-1 win over the Davidson field hockey team Friday night.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 1-1.
Longwood bookended the match with goals by Zoe Tierney, with her first coming early in the second quarter and the game-winning penalty stroke rolling in with eight seconds remaining.
Davidson evened the score 4:06 into the third quarter with a goal by Sib Naaktgeboren. After a penalty corner, Naaktgeboren fired home a shot off an assist from Macy Curtis. Naaktgeboren had game-highs of eight shots and four shots-on-goal as Davidson held 15-10 and 7-4 advantages, respectively.
