‘Cats Secure A-10 Tournament Berth Behind Louzan’s Late Goal

KINGSTON, R.I. – Three minutes after hitting the right post, Davidson's Noah Louzan secured Davidson's spot in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Tournament with an 87th minute game-winner to lift the 'Cats over Rhode Island, 2-1, Saturday evening at URI Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats (6-6-5, 4-4-0 A-10), the seventh seed in next week's conference tournament, will play at Dayton in the quarterfinals.
Rhody concludes the campaign 7-7-3 and 2-6-0.
Louzan's difference maker and second goal of the season was set up by Vincent Bennage.
Davidson, which dominated the shot column, 25-6, including 11 on target, broke through in the 54th minute when senior Lyman Ott found the back of the net for the first time in his career.
The 'Cats put three shots on frame in a 90-second span late in the first half but had to settle for a scoreless opening 45 minutes.
At the 70:47 mark, Brandon Bermingham provided an equalizer off an assist from Isak Oystese.
Goalkeeper Lucas Beltran finished with four saves for Davidson.
The Wildcats would also record a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
