'Cats Earn 3-2 Win over Lock Haven
10/25/2024 9:06:00 PM | Field Hockey
DAVIDSON — Sib Naaktgeboren scored two goals to lead the Davidson field hockey team past Lock Haven 3-2 Friday night at Belk Turf Field.
It's the Wildcats' third straight Atlantic 10 win — marking the first time they've accomplished that since 2015. It's also Davidson's first three-game win streak since 2022.
"I'm just so proud of this team," said coach Zoe Almquist. "It has been a tremendous season so far, and this win brings us into territory we haven't seen in nearly a decade. We're playing great hockey, playing as a team and getting better every week. I especially want to thank my seniors who played a wonderful last game on their home turf!"
Davidson (7-6 overall, 3-3 A-10) got started with Naaktgeboren's first goal at the 12:03 mark of the second quarter, after she broke free from the defense.
Naaktgeboren's second goal came 4:14 into the third quarter after a long, over-the-top pass from Matilda Collins. It was her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Emelia Little scored the Wildcats' third goal off a rebound with 8:30 to play, striking in between Lock Haven's two second-half goals, which came off the stick of Constanza Lopez Zabala.
Lock Haven fell to 2-14 overall and 1-5 in A-10 play.
