Wildcats Fall In Tight Road Match at No. 24 Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Davidson College men's soccer team put the No. 24 Duquesne Dukes' unbeaten home record to the test on Saturday night. The Wildcats outshot the Dukes 20-4 but could not find an equalizer to a 10th minute goal.
Duquesne's attack was able to initially create pressure with possession that led to a blocked shot. That attempt led to a corner kick which was followed by a foul call on the Wildcats. That set up a free kick in which Blaize Hardy finished in the box for the game's only score.
The Wildcats looked to shake it off and amp up their offensive pressure. Alonzo Clarke sent a shot on-goal in the 19th minute and Piers Ringdahl had a chance in the 33rd.
Just over a minute into the second half, Vincent Bennage broke free. The senior striker put a shot towards the lower right portion of the goal, but the chance was saved. Less than ten minutes later, Brady McGlone had a shot saved by the Dukes' keeper.
Down the stretch, Davidson's pressure persisted to the tune of five shots in the final ten minutes. None more tense than Bennage's attempt with 17 seconds remaining. The Kenosha, Wisc. product also had a late shot on goal in the 84th minute.

Davidson will have a quick turnaround with a non-conference midweek against Johnson and Wales on Tuesday night.
