Prior and Haines Lead Women to Fifth Straight Victory

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to a third straight double-double for Millie Prior, Davidson's Mallorie Haines drilled six 3-pointers en route to a career-high 22 points as the Wildcats cruised past Longwood, 83-46, in non-conference women's basketball action Saturday inside Belk Arena.
With their fifth straight victory, the 'Cats improve on their best start in program history moving to 7-1 overall.
A junior from Sydney, Australia, Prior finished with 17 points and 19 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks in just 23 minutes of action.
The Wildcats' top scorers were joined in double figures by redshirt-senior Suzi-Rose Deegan (11) and freshman Sylvie Jackson, who had season-high's of 10 points and six rebounds.
Charlise Dunn also hauled in 11 boards for the 'Cats, who shot just under 50 percent for the contest.
For the second straight out, Davidson was dominant on the defensive end of the floor and on the glass. The Wildcats held the Lancers to just 29.8 percent, controlled the boards 54-26 and finished with 27 second-chance points.
Clinging to a two-point lead midway through the opening 10 minutes, Davidson closed the quarter with 12 unanswered points and never looked back. The Wildcats lead would balloon to as many as 39 in the closing seconds.
Adriana Shipp-Davis and Anne Hamilton-Leroy were the lone Lancers the crack the 10-point plateau with 13 and 10, respectively.
