‘Cats Continue Best Start in Program History with 64-41 Win over App State

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Suzi-Rose Deegan scored a season and game-high 21 points and Millie Prior added a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Davidson past App State, 64-41, in non-conference women's basketball action Wednesday night inside Belk Arena.
Continuing their best start in program history, the Wildcats improve to 6-1 overall.
Charlise Dunn also added double figures for Davidson with 16, while Issy Morgan finished with 7 points, 8 boards and 7 assists.
In addition to holding the Mountaineers to just 26.3 percent from the floor, the Wildcats finished with a commanding 47-27 advantage on the glass and 44 points in the paint.
Davidson shook a slow start from the field, turning a one-point advantage at the end of the first quarter into a 34-20 lead at the break.
The Wildcats opened the second frame with an 8-2 spurt and closed the half with a 14-2 run capped by a Morgan floater in the lane at the buzzer.
Faith Alston paced App State (4-2) with 14 points.
Davidson, which shot just over 50 percent after intermission, pushed the lead to as many as 25 on a Deegan 3-point play in the closing seconds.

Davidson will continue its season-long six-game homestand Saturday when Longwood comes to town for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
