CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wake Forest hit 10 of its first 11 shots in the second half to extend a three-point halftime lead and ultimately hand Davidson an 82-70 loss Friday night at the Spectrum Center.
The Demon Deacons' victory snapped a two-game win streak for the Wildcats, who fell to 2-3.
"Wake Forest put us on our heels right from the start tonight," said Davidson coach Bob McKillop. "It was one of those nights where it seemed like we were a step slow."
Wake's lead peaked at 23 at the 8:50 mark of the second half, and McKillop said the progress his team seemed to make in convincing back-to-back wins over UNCW and Nevada was replaced by the issues that arose in the team's previous losses.
"The same demons that haunted us against Auburn and Charlotte came back tonight," he said.
Kellan Grady led Davidson with 20 points, while Jon Axel Gudmundsson had 17. Hyunjung Lee scored a season-high 13, and Carter Collins rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10.
Wake (3-2) held a 43-29 advantage on the glass, an 18-2 advantage in second-chance points and had five double-digit scorers, led by the 18 of senior guard Brandon Childress. Olivier Sarr (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Isaiah Mucius (11 pts, 10 rebs) added double-doubles for the Deacons.
"I felt they made some shots tonight that just break your heart," said McKillop.

Davidson will play in the Orlando Invitational Nov. 28-29 and Dec. 1, beginning with a matchup against Marquette on Thanksgiving Day.
