WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington scored a pair of early goals off assists from Joshua Yurastis as the Colonials blanked Davidson, 2-0, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Wednesday at GW Soccer Field.
The setback drops the Wildcats to 7-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in league play, while George Washington improves to 7-6-2 and 4-2-0.
Just 46 seconds in, the Colonials grabbed the advantage as Dylan Lightbourn received a Yurastis' throw at the corner of the six-yard box and placed a shot inside the far post.
Shortly after, Davidson had a golden chance to equalize, but Malcolm McCabe's clear look following a free kick caromed off the post. Jordan Hill had another opportunity off the rebound, but missed wide.
In the 20th minute, Koby Osei-Wusu's third goal of the season, a header from in front, extended the lead.
Thor Arne Hofs led both keepers with six saves for the Colonials, while Sam Bissett stopped four shots.
Both teams finished with 12 shots.

Postgame Comments from Head Coach
"It was not a good start to go down so early. We must be more alert and switched on."
"We needed to convert that early double chance to regain a foothold in the match. When the second goal was conceded on the cross and free header, I still believed we could get something from the game. An appeal for a second half penalty and some good opportunities for Charlie Caswell and Quinn Dudek did not go for us."
"No excuses, we just started flat and did not have enough quality to surmount the challenge. It's a missed opportunity when you don't play to a better level. But we have to pick ourselves up, not feel sorry, and elevate to a higher performance in the next match."
