Davidson Earns Second Straight 7-0 Win, Downs Gardner-Webb

DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the second match in a row the Davidson women's tennis team blanked its opponent by taking a 7-0 victory against visiting Gardner-Webb Saturday morning on the courts inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.

The Wildcats (2-0) dominated both singles and doubles, taking straight sets in five of the six singles matches and earning victories in all three doubles positions.
Â
Capturing a pair of 6-1 wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles, respectively, was the teams of Megan Scholvinck and Samantha Armas, and Anna Catharine Feaster and Ally Sexton, who won their first together on the season.

The duo of Ava Todd and freshman Alexandra Abele make it a clean sweep with a 6-4 victory at No. 3.

In singles action, Feaster, Scholvinck, Abele, Todd and Armas all scored wins. Feaster gave up just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at the top singles spot.

Scholvnick was forced to a super tie-breaker after splitting her first two sets, 5-7, 6-3, but came out victorious with a 10-5 win in the tie-breaker at No. 2. Todd battled through and picked up a 7-5, 6-3 decision at No. 5.

The freshmen pair of Abele and Armas each moved their records 2-0. At No. 4, Abele matched Feaster by allowing just one game in a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory. Fresh off being named A-10 Rookie of the Week Tuesday, Armas was just as good, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 6

Gabrielle Centenari gave Davidson its final team point with a strong 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.

Davidson wraps up its three-match homestand by hosting George Washington Sunday in its first Atlantic 10 match at 12 p.m.
