PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Even the northeastern rainy weather could not stop the Davidson women's tennis team from continuing their hot streak, as the Wildcats picked up a pair of 4-0 Atlantic 10 wins over Duquesne and Saint Joseph's Saturday to push their win streak to nine in a row.

Forced indoors and having to play a doubleheader due to the rain in the area, the Wildcats did not miss a beat in remaining undefeated in league play at 5-0, while pushing their overall record to 12-2. The nine straight wins are the most since a 12-match streak during the 2005 campaign.

"I'm proud of the way our ladies handled some tough conditions this weekend," said second-year head coach Sara Anundsen. "It was a long travel day yesterday, followed by a doubleheader today due to a lack of indoor courts available for Sunday. The team never made an excuse, fought hard and got better today."

Davidson started the day off vs. Duquesne (10-4, 4-1 A-10), grabbing a 1-0 lead with doubles wins at No. 1 and 3 positions. The pair of Anna Catharine Feaster and Ally Sexton scored a 7-5 victory at the top spot, while Ava Todd and Sarah Stein won their first match together as a doubles team this year with a solid 6-1 victory.

The quartet would also earn wins vs. Saint Joseph's by the scores of 6-2 and 6-3. With the two wins, Feaster and Sexton set a personal best together with their ninth consecutive win as a doubles team and ran their record to 10-1 this season. The nine-match win streak is the longest by a Wildcat duo since Virginia Berry and Teresa Wang had a nine-match streak during the 2007 season.

Sealing up the win vs. the Dukes was Feaster, Elaina Cummer and Jenna Brunner, scoring singles wins at No. 1, 5 and 6. Feaster gave up just one game in cruising 6-1, 6-0.

Cummer recorded a 6-3, 6-1 decision to earn her fourth straight win and team-best 10th overall, while Brunner remained perfect on the year at 4-0 with a 6-4, 6-4 decision. It marked the third year in a row the senior Cummer reached double-digit wins in singles.

In the nightcap, the Wildcats again took the early 1-0 lead vs. the Hawks (3-7, 1-4 A-10) by sweeping the doubles matches. It was the third time this year they have accomplished the feat. In addition to Feaster and Sexton along with Todd and Stein all winning, the pair of Cummer and freshman Gabrielle Centenari earned a 6-3 victory at No. 2.

In singles play, Centenari, Todd and Megan Scholvinck helped clinch the match with wins at No. 2-4 spots. Centenari ran her record to 8-4 after securing a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 3, while fellow freshman Scholvinck won her seventh match of the year behind a strong 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 4.

Todd tied Cummer for the team lead with her 10th win, cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2. The sophomore saw her two-year singles record move to 29-6.
