'Cats Fall to Top-Seeded Fordham in A-10 Semifinals

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The fourth-seeded Davidson women's tennis team saw its postseason run come to an end Friday evening, as the Wildcats fell 4-1 to No. 1 seed Fordham in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship at the USTA National Campus.
With the setback, Davidson concludes the season 11-8 overall.
The Rams clinched the doubles point early to take a 1-0 lead.
Ultimately, Fordham (17-6) secured the necessary points at the No. 1, No. 4, and No. 6 positions to clinch the victory and advance to the championship final.
Sophomore Ellie Hammond provided the lone point for Davidson with a 6-1, 6-4 straight-set win over Valerija Kargina on court three.
The Wildcats remained competitive across the remaining courts, pushing top-seeded Fordham deep into several sets.
At No. 2 singles, Bryson Langford was up a set when the match was halted. Similarly, at the No. 5 spot, Keri Rothenberg was in the midst of a comeback, leading 5-3 in the second set after a narrow 7-5 loss in the first.
