DAVIDSON, N.C. — Wrapping up a busy week, Davidson came out on the wrong end of a 6-1 decision at home against No. 73 Samford Sunday afternoon in the Knobloch Tennis Center in Southern Conference women's tennis.
The Bulldogs ran their win streak to nine in a row to move to 11-1 and remained perfect in SoCon play at 4-0.
Davidson, playing its fourth nationally-ranked opponent this year, fell to 6-12 and 1-3 in SoCon action. It was a tough week for the 'Cats as they lost to three of the hottest teams in the SoCon in Chattanooga (six-game win streak), Elon (eight) and Samford (nine).

Moniz-Soares and Elaina Cummer again played a tightly contested match at No. 1 doubles, but fell in a tie-breaker, 8-6, as Samford won 8-7, while also taking 8-2 and 8-3 decisions at the other three positions.
At No. 5 singles, Brunner came close to trying and earning a team point, battling in a straight-set defeat, 6-3, 6-4.
Cummer and Nisha Crouser fell by the scores of 6-1, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.
