STATESBORO, Ga. — In its lone match of the week, Davidson dropped its fourth match in a row as the Wildcats fell 5-2 on the road to Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference women's tennis action at the Wallis Tennis Center.
 
Davidson fell to 6-13 overall and 1-4 in SoCon play, while GSU ran its record to 7-9, 3-4 in conference.
 
Taking wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, the Eagles grabbed the early 1-0 team lead. The pair of Elaina Cummer and Brites Moniz-Soares won their eighth match at the No. 1 spot by the score of 8-1.
 
The two team points for the 'Cats on the afternoon came from Cummer and Nisha Crouser at No. 2 and 3 singles. Cummer improved to 7-12 after she won a super tie-breaker in the third set, 10-8. The second-year player forced a super tie-breaker with a 6-2 second-set win after falling 7-6 in the first set.
 
Crouser snapped her personal six-match losing streak with a three set victory. The senior took a 7-6 first-set win, but fell in the second set, 6-3. She stormed back to take home a 6-3 victory in the last set for her sixth win of the season.
 
Moniz-Soares played a tightly-contest match at No. 1, but came out on the wrong end of a 6-4, 7-6 decision.
 
Jenna Brunner forced a third set in her singles match at No. 5. The freshman, who has a team-high tying nine wins, lost the first set, 6-2, but regrouped by taking a tie-breaker second set win. Brunner's day ended though with a 6-1 defeat in the final set.
 
The Wildcats remain on the road and will play at Appalachian State, March 29.
