Kalinoski and 16 Treys Lead 'Cats to Win Over Stetson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Tyler Kalinoski matched his career-high with 25 points and Davidson drilled a season-high 16 3-pointers, as the Wildcats cruised to a 90-59 victory over Stetson in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday at Belk Arena.
Davidson (6-1) was more efficient from long range (47.1 percent) than from the field overall (44.9 percent), led by Kalinoski's 7-for-9 3-point performance. He also had nine rebounds and four assists, and was joined in double figures by Oskar Michelsen with 16 points on four treys, and Brian Sullivan, who added 14 points to go along with a career-high eight assists.
As a team, the 'Cats tallied a season-high 25 assists on 31 baskets. Davidson also out-rebounded Stetson 53-31, led by Nathan Ekwu's personal best 10.
Davidson, which shot 51.4 percent and drilled eight treys in the opening period, closed on an 18-4 run to take a 48-24 lead into the half. Michelsen led all players at the break with 13 points, while Sullivan had 12 and six assists in the first 20 minutes.
In addition to their efficiency on the offensive end, the Wildcats were just as impressive defensively holding Stetson (3-7) to just 32.2 percent.
B.J. Glasford and Kentwan Smith were the lone Hatters in double figures with 15 and 11, respectively.
Highlighted by three 3-pointers, Davidson reeled off 15 straight early in the second half and eventually stretched its margin to as many as 44 with just under four minutes to play.
Davidson will return to the hardwood Wednesday with a 9 p.m. (EST) contest at Montana.
