DAVIDSON, N.C. – Behind the stellar play of goalkeeper Rachel Locke and the Wildcat defense, the Davidson women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a scoreless draw on Senior Day against Massachusetts at Alumni Stadium in Atlantic 10 play.
Davidson concluded its season at 5-12-2 overall and 2-5-1 in its first year in the A-10, finishing its final weekend unbeaten against Rhode Island and UMass (5-8-5, 3-3-2 A-10).
The game was fairly even across the board, with the Minutewomen firing off 18 shots and Davidson 13, while corner kicks were 7-5 in favor of UMass.
Locke capped off her outstanding four-year career with seven saves, including some big ones late in regulation as well as in both overtimes. She earned her fifth shutout of the season to move into second place all-time with 19 for her career. The senior keeper also finished second in the record books in minutes played and third all-time in saves (327).
With her seven saves today, Locke wrapped up the year with 93 to pace all A-10 goalkeepers.
Prior to the game, seniors Locke, Zoe Hayes, Becca Fisher, Stephanie Piperno and Rachel Stelter were each honored as part of Senior Day.
