DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's tennis team dropped its second straight 7-0 Southern Conference decision as the College of Charleston swept the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center.
Davdison fell to 7-5 on the season and is still seeking its first league victory, falling to 0-3. CofC moved to 10-7 and 2-0 in SoCon action. The Cougars ran their record to 29-4 in the all-time series vs. the 'Cats.
The Wildcats' No. 1 team of Brites Moniz-Soares and Elaina Cummer were the closest to scoring a win in doubles action, falling 9-7. CofC took home 8-1 and 8-3 decisions at the other two spots to sweep the doubles point.
College of Charleston then went on to take all six singles slots, five of them in straight sets for the win.
Cummer forced a third set in singles action, but saw her record fall to an even 6-6 after she dropped a 6-1 third-set match. She had won the second set, 6-1, after falling 6-4 in the first against Kelly Kambourelis at No. 2.
At No. 3 singles, Nisha Crouser battled out a two-set affair against Jenny Falcone, before falling 6-4, 7-6. The junior suffered her second SoCon defeat, falling 1-2 and 7-4 overall.
Having her three-match win streak halted was Tamara Hill at No. 5 singles, dropping a 6-0, 6-2 decision. She fell to 3-1 on the season. Blake Nickles saw her first action since late February, falling 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
Davidson hits the road for a 12 p.m. SoCon match against UNCG on Sunday.
