Davidson Golf Finishes 12th at Coca-Cola Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Davidson men's golf team finished in 12th place with a 54-hole score of 888 (296+295+297) Tuesday after completing the Coca-Cola Invitational hosted by Wofford at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
Junior John Skeadas matched his second-round, one-under 71 in the final round to move into a tie for 25th place at 219, three-over-par. Freshman Ralph Blasey placed in a tie for 45th place at 223 (72+74+77), seven-over-par.
Sophomore Richard Fountain and freshman Todd Eckstein both fired final-round 75's to finish at 225 (72+78+75) and 227 (77+75+75), respectively. Senior Jackson Taylor finished in between the two at 226 (75+75+76).
Charleston Southern won the tournament in the 18-team field with a 54-hole tournament record of 841. The previous record was held by ETSU, in 2010 and was an 847. It's -23 relation to par finish is also a new tournament record.
Vaita Guillaume of Campbell finished at 204 (69+64+71) for a new tournament record individual medalist finish for 54-holes. He broke the record that was set by Michael Capone of Wake Forest back in 1999. His -12 finish breaks the record held by Capone of -11 in relation to par finish.
Davidson finished four-strokes out of the top-10 and behind Southern Conference foes Wofford (fourth place, 869) and Samford (tie-eighth, 895). The Cats' placed ahead of Appalachian State (13th, 892), but leads Elon (16th, 596).
The tournament was the final tune-up before the Southern Conference tournament, which begins Sunday at the Daniel Island Club in Daniel Island, S.C.
