Field Hockey Hosts Robert Morris Saturday at Noon

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson field hockey team returns home after four games on the road to take on non-conference foe Robert Morris at 12 p.m. Saturday at Belk Turf Field.
LAST TIME OUT: Junior Finley Amato tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Davidson field hockey team to a 4-2 win over Siena Sunday afternoon at Siena Turf Field. Siena (0-7) scored the game's first goal in the fourth minute, but four different Wildcat scorers tipped the game decisively in Davidson's (3-3) favor.
Robert Morris (NEC) has won its last three games, including a 1-0 overtime win over No. 15 Ohio, to build a 5-4 record. The Colonials tied a program record with its fifth win of the year on Sunday; topping Liberty 1-0 and completing a three-game sweep over the weekend for the longest winning streak in Robert Morris history.
THE SERIES: This is the first-ever field hockey meeting between Robert Morris and Davidson.
PLAYERS TO?WATCH: Davidson returns NorPac Player and Offensive Player of the Year Finley Amato, as well as all-conference defender Steph Meador. Amato leads the team in scoring with three goals and two assists. Seniors Christine Rua and Krista Jackson also have two goals apiece. Annie Evans scored both of the 'Cats' goals in the season-opener against Georgetown.
RMU is led in scoring by Taleah Scott with 11 points (2g, 7a), while Chantele Crow (4g, 0a), Michelle Lewthwaite (3g, 2a) and Jamie Hartley (2g, 4a) all have eight points. Freshman goalkeeper Erin McKenzie earned last week's Synapse Sports/WomensFieldHockey.com Division I Rookie of the Week award after earning three wins and two shutouts.
COACHES: Ginny Turner, honored last season as the 2010 NorPac Coach of the Year, is in her fifth season at the helm of the Wildcats after guiding the Wildcats to one of the most successful seasons in program history last season. Entering her fifth season at the helm of the Robert Morris field hockey program is Olivia Netzler. Netzler is the second head coach of the Colonial field hockey team, which started its program in 2004.
HONORS: Tyler McFayden was named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the double-overtime, game-winning goal at William & Mary. Finley Amato was named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist against No. 16 Louisville. Sarah Fisher was named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week after posting a season-opening shutout against Georgetown.
TOP 20: Davidson received votes in the 2011 Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Preseason Top 20 Poll, earning two points, and earned one point for the week of Sept. 13.
UP NEXT: Davidson will travel to Chapel Hill to face No. 2 North Carolina. The 'Cats will then return Belk Turf Field Saturday, Oct. 1 at 12 p.m. for their first conference match of the year against Longwood.
