ALBANY, N.Y. – No. 16 Albany scored three goals off penalty corners and Kristi Troch made five saves to take a 3-0 victory over Davidson field hockey Saturday afternoon at Alumni Turf Field.

Junior Finley Amato led Davidson (2-3) with three shots, while senior Gray Robinson had two shots on goal. Senior defenders Steph Meador and Hannah Lawrence each made a defensive save.

Taylor Luke notched what would prove to be the game-winner for Albany (5-2) in the fifth minute with Christina Patrick and Karlijn van Dijsseldonk earning the assists on the penalty corner tally.

The 'Cats stepped up the pressure offensively in the second half, placing five shots on goal, but Albany was able to add two more goals. Daphne Voormorlen scored in the 42nd minute with Patrick and Chantae Miller earning assists. Corrine McConville scored the third and final goal in the 60th minute with Katharina Helling and van Dijsseldonk assisting.

Junior goalkeeper Sarah Fisher made seven saves for Davidson.

Shots were nearly even in the second half, but Albany held an 18-9 advantage for the game.

Davidson will conclude their road trip Sunday with a match against Siena starting at 1 p.m. The 'Cats return to Belk Turf Field Saturday, Sept. 24 when they host Robert Morris at 12 p.m.
